2022 Pie & AI Ambassador Spotlight: David Quintanilla

Why did you join the DeepLearning.AI community as an event ambassador?

I joined the DeepLearning AI Community because here in El Salvador, there were not many communities that talked about this topic, nor is it taught in our universities. I saw that DeepLearning.AI could help me to spread knowledge and connect with people interested in this field. 

What do you do when you are not hosting events with DeepLearning.AI?

I usually work on a few separate projects related to AI and some to blockchain. Apart from that, on weekends I try to make small trips to hike and hang out, since El Salvador has very beautiful places.

Describe a few highlights from your event ambassador experience.

Being a DeepLearning AI ambassador has been a great experience! It has allowed me to motivate more people here in El Salvador to start learning about artificial intelligence and begin developing their own applications. Currently I have hosted 4 events. At the first event, I invited a data scientist from a startup in my country. The event was quite well received and as a result many other interested parties applied to become ambassadors. We now have four ambassadors in El Salvador, and we work together to bring events that motivate more people to enter this world of data.

What have you learned/gained since joining the DeepLearning.AI community?

I have learned how AI is revolutionizing almost all fields. At the end of our events we invite attendees to share how AI is being used in their jobs, and have heard stories from logistics, retail, and more. I have also learned how good it is to be part of a community, as we help each other.
